SOLD - Little Girl in a Red Dress" - Oil on Panel Portrait, Unsigned (circa 1850s) #16-0142 $1,995
|
Pre Civil War era oil on panel portrait (19-1/2" x 15-1/2") of a unidentified
lovely little girl with chubby cheeks in a red dress trimmed in lace wearing
a delicate gold braided chain. Set in a beautifully grained mahogany double frame.
We were told it belonged to a Bristol, RI family for many years. Nothing else
is known.
Painting is very finely done, perhaps by itinerate portrait painter of the era.
Image of the little girl is in very good shape.
Age checking around the lower borders as shown in the pictures. Inside frame
has old damage to upper right corner.
