This great oil on canvas of Native American Indians of an American Buffalo ( Bison ) hunt somewhere on the American Great Plains measure a truly impressive 44” x 34 ½ “ unframed. In the classic Western style wooden frame in solid black with gold border, it measures an even more impressive 50” x 40 ½”. If you have been looking for a great western painting to dominate a room, look no further.
Signed Henry Aiken, all we could find out is that the painting was purchased by the former owner about 1980 somewhere in the Southwest. The canvas could be 50-70 years old. The black with gold trim wooden frame may be older. The stretcher is not.
A Southwestern gallery we consulted described it as “in the manner and style of Charles Russell”. If the artist were listed, this quality painting (much better than the attached pictures show) would easily be worth six figures.
