Small (8” x 5” without frame) lovely water color of Fall tree foliage and rural pond signed Clara Maxfield (Arnold), well listed Rhode Island artist. It has been re-matted and reframed to better display the rich brown and yellow colors of Fall celebrated in this wonderfully diminutive work.
Clara Maxfield Arnold (1879-1959) was born in East Providence; studied under and later married the artist John Nelson Arnold. This painting is one of her earlier paintings, and probably painted prior to her marriage (circa 1900-1910).
