Lovely original color etching of English Setter on point at long eared rabbit in hiding camouflaged by the tall brown grass. Signed and titled in pencil by the French artist Paul Wood. Carries the imprint of the “Paris Etching Society" (“PES”) and Stanley Z. Lucas (“SZL”), owner of NYC diamond district galleries named The Old Print Center and then the Camilla Lucas Gallery (named after his mother) from 1928 through the 1950s. Lucas traveled to Europe several times a year and acquired etchings by several French artists including Wood for publication by the “PES”. Little else is known about Paul Wood other than he produced a number of very find etchings of dogs.
