The pictures of this lovely Watervliet, NY Shaker Community (c. 1840-1850) candlestand (24 ¼ " high, 17 ¼ " diameter) speak for themselves. Made of butternut and maple, it has a splined two board top screwed into a round disk on a turned shaft into which four snake legs are mortised. Small chip in the base of the shaft under the attachment point for one leg can only be seen when table is overturned. Purchased at private auction of all Shaker held at the Shaker Village Museum in Hancock MA.
