Unusual square-topped cherry and pine work stand in original dark stained varnish finish, with turned shaft on arched legs. Dovetailed drawer under the top can be opened on either side, allowing access by two people working at the same time.

Purchased at private auction of all Shaker items held at the Shaker Village Museum in Hancock MA. Background research on this unusual item has not been completed. However, it is similar in design to other work stands identified with Hancock MA Community and dated to the mid 19th Century.
