A very nice Depression Era steel with baked on white enamel “Putnam Dye and Tint” Cabinet manufactured by the Am. Can. Company of New York and Chicago. Advertising content on the inside of the lift-top front cover shows a copyright date of 1931.

Putman dyes and tints were products of the Monroe Chemical Company of Quincy, Illinois. Front and back of the cabinet have nicely colored images of Israel Putnam (Revolutionary War General and Hero from Connecticut) being chased on horseback by English red-coat soldiers.

The exterior colors are still bright; and the lettering sharp. Inside lettering has some pockmarks that add to effect. The outside background shows various levels of brown discoloration. A few scratches and some surface rust spots are evident, but there is no structural rust damage.

Outside dimensions are 18 3/4" long, 14 1/2" high, 6 1/4" top depth and 7 1/2" bottom depth. The bottom is wooden as the removable single piece comprised of 36 divided and individually labeled compartments. Bottom and insert are sturdy and in good condition.
